Lets begin with the end: With Kristina tired from Pescadero, Jana recovering from a cold, and Shelley suffering from the effects of asthma, the simple plan was to have Kristina, Lori and Jana watch the front for the 1st half of the race so me and Nicki could sit in. On the final lap both Webcor and McGuire began to put their leadout trains together. I saw Laura Charameda pop in behind a Webcor rider, so I tried to get on Laura's wheel since she was arguably one of the best sprinters when she was racing full time as a pro. Katherine was leading it out for Karen and Amber for Webcor. When the sprint started to take shape around the final bend, I saw that it was going to be a drag race between Karen and Laura, and I have to say I momentarily got so caught up in watching these two semi-retired, decorated riders duke it out in the sprint that I took my eyes off the finish line to watch them. Snapping back to attention, I sprinted for the finish and threw my bike at the line, but I got squeaked by a burly girl from PAB and ended up 5th. Niki came in behind me at 6th for a podium placing, while Karen nipped Laura at the line for the win. Amber ended up 4th, and burly girl was 3rd.Even though we were outnumbered by lots of McGuires, Los Gatos, Webcor, and PAB riders, I noticed that I always saw a Proman rider at the front mixing it up. You guys are so much stronger both tactically and physically compared to the beginning of the season (remember cherry pie?). We were represented in almost every move during the race. I am glad to be on a team with such aggressive riders! - Kristin
