The Firestone Santa Ynez Valley Classic presented by Platinum Performance was also the third stop on the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Gravity Calendar. In Saturday’s Super D competition, Mike Phillips (Milwaukee, Wis./Alterra) narrowly defeated Bryan Fawley (Robinson, Texas/Kenda-X Fusion) and Carl Decker (Bend, Ore./Giant) to take the men’s victory while Rachel Lloyd (Fairfax, Calif./Proman), Marla Streb (Los Osos, Calif./Luna Chix) and Jamie Whitmore (Mount Aukum, Calif./Cannondale) took the top three spots for the women.
